MindfulGarden is a screen-based digital device designed for dementia care. It has a minicomputer, wheeled TV screen, webcam and microphone to display soothing garden images and uses a game engine to change the speed of the images in response to a viewer’s voice and movement. It has the potential to reduce responsive behaviors. This solution has promising potential for improving the lives of people with dementia by reducing their responsive behaviors and needs for calming medications. It can also improve the quality of life of caregivers by reducing the burden of care, ultimately increasing staff efficiency, productivity and saving healthcare costs.
