Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is an incurable degenerative condition affecting 10% of Hong Kong's population, leading to significant symptoms and an annual healthcare cost of HK$1.4 billion. It lacks an effective tool for early screening and promoting self-management of the disease in the community, leading to general late diagnosis. To overcome these limitations, we introduced an AI-powered motion analysis system that uses a tablet to evaluate a user's gait, posture and motion. This technology accurately evaluates motion parameters and KOA severity through advanced data analytics, aiding therapists in identifying cases for preventive or further medical attention. This system enhances early KOA detection and curtails unnecessary hospital resource utilization.
